On 16th June 1962, in Basel (Switzerland), during the first International Company Sport Conference, representatives of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland , Luxemburg, Sweden and Switzerland decided to found the European Federation for Company Sport. Since that date, EFCS has been developping as the most important player in Europe in the field of Company Sports. The number of member countries have been increasing from 8, in 1962, to actual 38 countries, among those 22 are EU member states.
The most important goal for EFCS is to strengthen human and cultural contacts across national borders through sport. A very hard task because of the diversity of the company sport approach in each country. The main instruments to meet this goal were and still are the summer and winter European company sport games and the EFCS labelled events. In the last decade, new challenges for our federation have been arised. Now, we put our focus on the health and movement aspects and on youngsters, women, elderly people and people with handicap, too.
